About Us

Kinna's Corner

Luekinna is sponsoring 'Kinna’s Corner' program, as a safe place to gather for children and teens that may be at risk for physical or sexual abuse. Kinna's Corner will have events such as a 'Juice and Paint Series', community gatherings, and programs for high school kids regarding financial planning and budgeting, as well as problem solving and conflict resolution.

Mission Statement

At Kinna's House of Love, we promote love and inclusiveness to empower women and children affected by abuse. We offer a safe space for healing and support, and strive to create positive change through awareness and understanding. Our goal is a compassionate and inclusive society, where everyone is valued and treated equally without judgement.

Our Vision

Our vision is to end the “vicious common secret” in our community that children silently suffer from. We want to bring awareness to our community concerning child sex abuse and put an end to it. More importantly, build an environment that is safe and secure for women and children.

Our History

I've always been passionate about helping others. In 2019 I started a coat drive and would continue to serve the community from my porch. In 2020 Kinna's House Of Love Inc was birthed. We became a legal 501c3. Kinna's House Of Love Inc is dedicated to helping homeless single women without children who suffer domestic violence, sex-trafficking, rape and trauma. In 2022 Kinna's Corner was birth. Kinna's Corner is dedicated to helping less fortunate kids cope with life.

Who is Kinna?

Luekinna Hodges is a passionate, outgoing leader for women and girls that face sexual violence and adversity She was born in Chicago in 1969 to a single parent with a mixture of 20 brothers and sisters, and grew up in an abusive home.

By age 12, Kinna had left home and dropped out of school - never to return. She would become homeless. As a woman of color who has survived abuse, sex trafficking, prostitution and drug addiction she has seen what happens to women on the margins, with nowhere to go and no one to turn to. She understands what it is like to have lost everything, and how susceptible women and girls are to being preyed upon.

She lifted herself up by sheer determination and had the force of will to not succumb to hopelessness. Luekinna went on to college receiving a BA in psychology and social sciences at Upper Iowa University. After networking in the Quad City area (Davenport, Iowa) she started her non-profit organization, Kinna's House of Love, Inc.

Her goal is to purchase a 4 -5 bedroom house to place women transitionally once they have been released so they no longer have to return to their abusers.Luekinna also instituted 'Kinna's Corner' as a headquarters and office where she maintains a safe space to assist children and adults with recognizing signs of sexual predators as well as several therapeutic programs for kids such as art therapy, play therapy, and financial literacy.

She has organized job fairs for adults, assistance with job seeking and programs to eliminate barriers for those with criminal records who want to work. She has achieved 4 associate's degrees, Phi Theta Kappa, President's list, Dean's list and received a Life Change Award. Recently Kinna received the Hometown Hero Award (2023); QC's Remarkable Women (2023); Jefferson Award (2023), Illinois Women's Churches United (2023).

She was a featured dancer in QC Dancing with the Stars, and has been called upon to be a local speaker to Schools, Universities, Churches, Rotary clubs, and other events. Her most recent campaign is to get a law passed to have cameras installed in all agencies that work with children. She credits her amazing transition to God and hopes that she can rub off her good will to others.

Outreach

Kinna's Outreach programs include providing assistance to the less fortunate. She cooks meals and delivers it to those in the local shelter. Other outreach services have included special holiday meals, Winter garment drives, delivering water on sweltering summer days, creation and collection of hygiene items, providing bags to carry these items.

She organized a special event for the women in the shelter, organizing donations of clothing, where they could pick out clothes, then taking them to a hair salon to have their hair styled, then to a local department store to have their makeup done, and finally out to a luncheon for all. Having once been on the streets, she is well aware that it is important to treat all people with dignity and to give those less fortunate a chance to lift themselves up.

Kinnas House of Love Inc

Kinna's House of Love (a 501(c)(3) organization - EIN 85-2995891) is raising funds with the goal of purchasing a house which would provide support for women without children and girls who have been subjected to domestic violence. These individuals have nowhere to go after they are no longer eligible to stay in a shelter. Though shelters provide a place to sleep, it does not keep them safe from vicious crime. After they are forced to leave, they are essentially homeless and subject to being forced into prostitution, sex-trafficking, continued domestic abuse, rape and trauma.

Kinna's House of Love aims to provide supportive housing, skills, tools and emotional support to enable them to become self-sufficient. A communal home will help strengthen each person by creating a stable secure environment in which to learn money management skills, learn about permanent housing options and provide the support needed to take a new path in life.

The founder of this organization, Luekinna Hodges, knows how difficult it is to build a life out of nothing, after everything has been taken away from you. This fundraiser will help provide stability for women and girls who have left domestic abuse situations and move toward a life of freedom and empowerment.

Your donations to this important cause will be used to purchase a four-bedroom home in the Quad Cities to lift up women and girls and lead them to a brighter future. Our capital campaign is coming together, and we are inching closer to fulfillment of this special goal.
